Hardware requirements

CromoDesigner is a graphical drawing app. It looks and feels very much like any other drawing app, but please be aware that a lot is going on in the background: as you draw, the application determines in real time the stitch pattern required to create the design you are drawing, and cleverly avoids impossible stitch combinations (such as two double crochets one on top of the other). Therefore, when working on really large patterns you will want to use a decent laptop or desktop, or a powerful iPad, to ensure that the app runs smoothly.

Supported browsers

The technology capable of implementing this kind of functionality requires the use of a recent browser. The app has been tested on the latest version of the mainstream browsers which are Chrome, Edge, and Safari.

Safari added support for the used framework in its version 16. This results in a minimum OS requirement of macOS13 and iPadOS16

App support

CromoDesigner only runs in the browser. If we would get a lot of feedback about the need for a standalone Windows/Mac/iPad app, we will consider creating those, but as of today they are not yet available.
