CromoViewer#

CromoViewer is accessible for free for anybody. All you need to do is create a free account on Cromo Cloud. As CromoViewer is an app running in the browser, no need to install anything. When you have found the pattern you want to crochet, open its detail page on CromoCloud and you will see the button Open in CromoViewer.

In theory you can access CromoViewer on your smartphone while you're on the road, but ideally you use a desktop or laptop to have a clear view on the pattern you are crocheting - see also CromoViewer requirements

While the CromoViewer screen shows you a traditional pattern chart with all stitch symbols, the real advantage is in the big text display, which continuously shows how many stitches of which type come next. It also tracks your progress, showing the current row and stitch number alongside the total number of rows and stitches in the pattern.

If the pattern chart seems to have an irregularity in the row you're working on, that's because the screen shows that row exactly as it appears in reality: the whole row is the color you're currently working with (design color or background color), and the row below gradually builds up the pattern as you work single or double crochet stitches into it.
