Tracking progress#

CromoViewer keeps track of your progress while you crochet and turns it into a few useful estimates:

  • Yarn remaining — based on the skeins you've used so far, it estimates how many more skeins of design color and of background color you'll need to finish the pattern.
  • Expected end date — from the time you spend per skein, it projects when you're likely to finish.
  • Total time — it records the total time you've spent on the pattern in CromoViewer.

Marking a new skein#

For CromoViewer to gather this information, tell it each time you start a new skein. Click the yarn icon in the lower left corner to announce a new skein. This also opens the dialog containing the estimates above.

To check the estimates between skeins — without starting a new one — just answer No to the question "Are you starting a new skein of design/background color yarn right now?".

All progress data is stored online, so progress is still correctly calculated when you switch to another device and continue your work there.

If you forget to mark a skein

Try to click the button every time you start a new skein, otherwise the estimates will be less accurate. If you do forget one, the dialog lets you add the information manually afterwards — recording that you started a new skein of design or background color on a given date, at the point where you'd reached stitch x of row y.
