Tileable pattern#

Creator plan

The following pages cover functionality available with the Creator plan only. See pricing for details.

A tileable pattern is a design where the basic motif can be repeated multiple times in either direction. This is useful for designs for blankets, scarves, or any project where crocheters want to choose the dimensions themselves.

Enabling tiling#

Open the Properties dialog and expand the Advanced pattern properties section. Tick Tileable, then specify the tile zone by dragging a large blue rectangle around it.

The tile zone and borders#

In most cases your pattern has a few stitches on each side that shouldn't be repeated — they act as the border of the full tiled pattern. These border stitches lie outside the blue rectangle.

Design first, then enable tiling

Because the tile zone has to exclude the border stitches, it's easiest to design your pattern first and only enable Tileable afterwards. By then you know exactly where the tile zone should sit.
